When her hair began regrowing after shaving her head, Badu adopted the name “Badula Oblongata”, after the part of the brainstem that helps regulate breathing. One of her big debuts of her growing afro was on the cover of Worldwide Underground, her first EP. She remarked that her wearing an afro was an important period in her life, as she was growing wiser.
The front reads "E. BADU AKA BADULA OBLINGADA." The back art is by Jackie Musial. Complete with drawstrings and a roomy front pocket.
