The Story

Badu’s top hat was accentuated by Rapunzel-like microbraids in 2007. She had worn the hairstyle since she was a child, she embraced them as a means of getting back to her roots in a sense. “I felt individual, free, and beautiful and I wore ‘em down to my ankles.”

The front of the SHE ILL tee features a portrait of Badu by artist Jackie Musial, with "BADU" written in Old English on the back.
